To celebrate our 20th anniversary, the New London Opera Group presents a new, semi-staged concert production of the greatest of all Viennese operettas.
An instant hit upon its premiere in 1874, Die Fledermaus has remained a firm favourite with audiences all around the world. The plot centres around Dr Falke, who takes revenge on his friend Gabriel Eisenstein by playing an elaborate practical joke on him at a grand ball held by eccentric Russian millionaire Prince Orlofsky. The ingenious plot involves mistaken identities, disguises and jokes, all set to the signature dances of the King of Waltzes – Johann Strauss II.
Our production, with piano accompaniment, is sung in a witty English translation by John Mortimer, creator of Rumpole of the Bailey, and is full of the New London Opera Group’s characteristic lively action and style.
Die Fledermaus is guaranteed to bring the glamour and sparkle of old Vienna to your evening, so book your tickets now!
