HMS Pinafore – cast announcement and news!

We are very excited to announce our cast for NewLOG’s 20th anniversary summer production, HMS Pinafore!

We would like to thank everyone who came to see us – the quality of our wonderful auditionees was very high all round, giving us a wealth of skilled performers to choose from. You should all be proud of yourselves for making our job so difficult.

The principals:

  • Sir Joseph Porter, KCB — Philip Errington
  • Captain Corcoran — Chris Cann
  • Josephine Corcoran — Laura Jamie Anstice
  • Ralph Rackstraw — Sam Leggett
  • Little Buttercup — Helena Culliney
  • Cousin Hebe — Juliet Hargreaves
  • Dick Deadeye — TBC
  • Bill Bobstay (Boatswain) — TBC
  • Bob Becket (Carpenter) — TBC

Congratulations to our wonderful cast! As you can see, there are three bass and baritone roles yet to be filled and we are still looking for candidates. If you would like to audition for one of these roles please get in touch via auditions@newlondonoperagroup.org and we will get back to you with more details.

We are also seeking performers for our chorus of sailors, sisters, cousins and aunts. As always, there are no auditions to become a member of our chorus – everyone is welcome aboard! Just come along to our first rehearsal on Wednesday 17 April, 7.00pm, at Holy Trinity Church, Prince Consort Road, Kensington, London SW7 2BA.

Chorus members can look forward to lots of fun on and off stage, with lively choreography, scene-stealing opportunities, wonderful Napoleonic/Regency-era costumes, and great music to sing. The show is already selling well, and we always receive a warm welcome from our wonderful audiences at the Riverhead. Our trips to Louth also make for a rewarding “busman’s holiday” with NewLOG’s trademark “organised fun” events including a pub quiz, beach trip, and our annual costume ceilidh, the highlight of the NewLOG social season!

For those who want to come and see this exciting new production of one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most beloved comic operas, we’re at the Louth Riverhead Theatre in Lincolnshire from 20-22 June – tickets are on sale now!

Best wishes,
Tony, Alex, Eirian, Fay, Chris and Steve
