When the chieftain of the Ladrones is captured and executed, the bandits cannot decide who will succeed him. They decide to let fate take a hand in the matter by setting an ambush and crowning the next stranger to arrive on the scene. However, they are unprepared for the appearance of a British holiday-maker, Mr Grigg!
Poor but honest chemist, Aesculapius Carboy is driven to attempt suicide after his fiancee’s father refuses to bless the match. However, he is foiled by the faithful Laetitia and the intervention of the forthright cafe-owner, Eliza. Eliza is herself being wooed by the down-a-heel Thomas Brown, but he is concealing a great secret that will affect the lives of Eliza, Caroy and Laetitia.
The group will give two performances of the double bill on Friday, 27 and Saturday, 28 November at 7.30pm. The venue is the beautiful Holy Trinity Church on Prince Consort Road, South Kensington, next to the Royal Albert Hall. The performances, with piano accompaniment will be semi staged without set, but with full costume and props. If any further incentive is needed, the cost is a bargainous £5!
