NewLOG is going to the International G&S Festival in Harrogate this August – and you can join us!

After a successful and well-received run in Louth, we are very excited to be taking our production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Patience to the 25th Annual G&S Festival in Harrogate, Yorkshire. We will perform on the main Festival stage in the opulent Royal Hall on Tuesday 21 August. The production is traditional and very beautiful, with gorgeous costumes by Eirian Walsh Atkins and team, set off by the lavish Festival set. Stage direction is by Chris Cann and the performance will be conducted by Alex Carpenter. If you would like to take part in Patience, we would like to welcome additional chorus members to swell the ranks and join in the fun on the large stage, so this is your perfect opportunity to be a dramatic rapturous maiden or dashing port-swilling cavalry officer on an international stage!

Please email if you would like to join us.

We have reduced the rehearsal requirement to a minimum to ensure that the commitment is not too onerous, so we can encourage as many people as possible to take part. The rehearsal and production schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, 1 August – 7-9:30pm
Full cast ensemble music rehearsal

Sunday, 5 August – 1-7pm
Full cast for blocking all Act I chorus scenes

Wednesday, 8 August – 7-10pm
Full cast to block Act II chorus scenes

Sunday, 12 August – 1-7pm
Full cast for working run of show, recapping and fine-tuning where necessary.

Wednesday, 15 August – 7-10pm

Sunday, 19 August – 1-7pm
Open dress rehearsal in costume a Holy Trinity and final ‘firefighting’

Monday, 20 August – Travel to Harrogate

Tuesday, 21 August
Get-in, Tech, Dress, Performance, Adjudication, post-performance cabaret in club

Wednesday, 22 August
Travel back to London or stay on to enjoy the Festival

Please note that as this is an amateur production, there is a modest show fee of £30 to cover production costs such as band parts, costumes, make-up, lighting and set/furniture transportation. In addition, cast members are responsible for arranging their own transport and accommodation.

Our previous appearances at the International G&S Festival in Buxton and Harrogate have been very well received and attended and taking part in the Festival is always great fun. There’s lots to see and do in beautiful Harrogate too! After the performance, we have been invited to perform the evening’s cabaret at the Festival Club and there will be solo opportunities for chorus-members in this.

We hope that you will join us for a wonderful trip to Harrogate!
