Dido & Aeneas – autumn concert announced!

The New London Opera Group returns to Holy Trinity Church, Kensington to present Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas in concert on 18 November 2016.

An archetypal tale of doomed love, Dido and Aeneas charts the story of Dido, the widowed Queen of Carthage, whose devotion towards Trojan Prince Aeneas is seized upon by en evil sorceress as a way to conjure her destruction. Purcell’s only all-sung piece for the stage, Dido and Aeneas is one of the best known and most loved works of English opera. The evening also features selections from works by Purcell, including The Fairy Queen and King Arthur.
