Iolanthe at the International G&S Festival – cast announced!

We are delighted to announce the cast (well, most of the cast) of our production of Iolanthe at the International G&S Festival in Harrogate. The standard of auditions was universally high and there was not a single audition that we felt we could not cast at all. We were particularly spoilt by an “embarrassment of riches” in the female auditions, which we really could have cast twice over. With that in mind, our sincere thanks and commiserations to the unsuccessful auditionees, and congratulations to our cast:

The Lord Chancellor – Philip W Errington
The Earl of Mountararat – Tony Bannister
Earl Tolloller – TBC
Strephon – Dave Anstice-Pim
Private Willis – Rob Sanders-Hewett
Phyllis – Victoria Mulley
The Queen of the Fairies – Helena Condry
Iolanthe – Laura Jamie Anstice
Celia – Antonia Gentile
Leila – Ayesha Murchie
Fleta – Lettice Cook

As you will see, we are still looking for a character tenor to take the role of Earl Tolloller. If you know of an experienced G&S tenor who would be interested in the role, please do put him touch.

We are, of course, also looking for a good-sized chorus to do justice to Sullivan’s wonderful choral writing in the show. If you would like to take part, please sign up or contact me on Facebook or at chriswcann@gmail.com. Both Fairies and Peers of the Realm most welcome and there are no auditions for the chorus.

With best wishes,
Chris Cann,
Director
