The New London Opera Group presents
Hugh the Drover
by Ralph Vaughan Williams & Harold Child

A tale of love, suspicion and fisticuffs in the English countryside.

Largely composed in the final peaceful years before the First World War, Hugh the Drover uses the composer’s characteristic blending of traditional and invented folk songs into the score, which is brimful of melodic charm. The opera has a large number of principal parts as well as a number of small roles and cameos that will give opportunities for many soloists to take a role.

Auditions will take place on Sunday 23 October – documents and requirements are available on our website here: (Document updated 3 October)

Performances will take place at Holy Trinity Church, Prince Consort Road, Kensington, London SW7 2BA

As always, no auditions are required to take part in our chorus – everyone is welcome. If you have any questions about how to participate, please email us at
